alphaX Share

Bringing in participants from elsewhere

alphaX Share carries the picture being taught in the training room out of the room, to participants who could not travel that day.

What Share does

What participants joining alphaX Share actually see

alphaX Share sends picture and sound from a training room live to participants who are not on site, and does so from the source itself: from a computer, notebook, camera or microscope, selected on the instructor's touchscreen.

What is carried is not the view of a room camera but the signal that is also on the monitors in the room: the instructor's screen, the camera image from a workstation, or the microscope image at the magnification currently being taught. Participants joining from elsewhere therefore see the same thing as the workstations on site.

alphaX Share is operated on the EBS touchscreen that controls the rest of the installation. No software is installed on the computers in the training room. For the route outwards the room needs an internet connection; without one, the alphadidact® Digital installation stays confined to the room.

alphaX Share has been announced and is not yet generally available. Anyone building a tender or a refurbishment around it should agree the timetable in advance, so that the planning of the room does not end up waiting on a function.

One room, many places

The course stays one course, even when not everyone is in the room

The instructor operates the installation as on any other day. On the touchscreen they select the source everyone is to see, and the same selection applies to the workstations in the room and to those joining from elsewhere. There is no second set of controls for remote teaching, and no assistant running a conference alongside.

Next step

When should the room be able to do this?

For rooms that are being refurbished anyway, the timing is what matters. Name the planned date and the room, and it can be said what is possible today and what is waiting on alphaX Share.
