What an AV system does in an anatomy dissection room
In an anatomy dissection room, an AV system carries the image from a camera above the dissection table to the screens at the individual workstations, so that every participant on a dissection course sees the same procedure from the same angle.
The image is transmitted uncompressed. There is no encoding to cost time and no buffer to hold it back, so nothing visibly lags between the movement at the table and the picture on the screen. The sound of the signal travels with it, and an audio link between the lecturer's position and the workstations can be added.
Anything that outputs a picture can be connected: the camera above the dissection table, a microscope, a visualiser or the computer holding cross-sectional images and teaching material. The equipment sits between source and screen and makes no demands on the computers — nothing is installed at the workstations.
Anatomy departments use the equipment on dissection courses, in dissection halls and in the seminar rooms attached to them. The lecturer stays at the table and carries on working while the course watches.

In a star system, each workstation has its own line running to the central unit. With a satellite arrangement, a system of this design grows to as many as 100 workstations — enough for a dissection hall with several rows of tables.

Operation
Switching without leaving the table
Switching takes a single keystroke at the lecturer's position. The touchscreen and the system keyboard sit on the Instructor Matrix, and anyone moving around the hall controls the same functions from a tablet: it connects to the system directly over Bluetooth, joins no network and needs no access to the building's Wi-Fi.

Dissection hall and lecture theatre on the same picture
Several alphadidact® Digital systems can be linked to one another. The image from the dissection table then also reaches the seats in the lecture theatre or in a second teaching room of the department. alphaX Share brings participants outside the building into the same view, without anything changing in the hall itself.
