AV technology

AV signal distribution without latency or compression

Four device families bring video signals together, split them up and recondition them for long cable runs – uncompressed and without a network.

Signal distribution

How video signals travel between sources and screens

Signal distribution in an AV system means switching, duplicating or carrying video signals between several sources and several screens – the work of dedicated hardware in the signal path rather than of software on the connected computers.

The picture is carried uncompressed. There is no encoding to cost time and no buffer to hold it back; the native resolution of the source arrives at the far end. What is transmitted is an HDMI signal with audio, so picture and sound travel on the same cable.

The sockets on the units are DVI-D and can be screwed down. In a fixed installation that connection holds where an unsecured plug works its way out of its socket over the years. Pre-assembled cables in a range of lengths are available from stock.

The units switch on their own and need no network. Depending on the model, the selection is made with buttons on the unit, a touchscreen, a tablet or an RS-232 interface. The signal path therefore stays independent of the building network, which is what keeps an air-gapped training room air-gapped.

Signal path

Every source is present at every output

In a matrix, switching changes only the assignment, not the route: the signal runs from the input through the crosspoint to the output and is not recalculated on the way.

Schematic of a 4x4 matrix: four inputs, four outputs, every connection freely selectable – including several outputs on the same source.
  • Sources: computers, cameras, players
  • Crosspoint: assignment freely selectable, picture and sound stay together
  • Destinations: monitors, large-format displays, projectors

Quotation

Have the signal path for your room laid out

Tell us the number of sources, the number of screens and the cable runs in the room, and the combination of devices follows from that. Development and manufacturing take place in house in Heusenstamm.

Three years of warranty, optionally extendable to five.
